Cold & Flu

Influenza (The Flu) is a highly contagious respiratory illness caused by different strains of the flu virus. Typical symptoms include sudden onset, fever, sore throat, cough, and muscle aches. It is important to not let flu symptoms get out of hand as it can lead to more serious complications such as bronchitis, sinus infections and pneumonia.

Urgent Care:

-If you feel you are coming down with the flu, a visit to an urgent care can diagnose the flu based on your symptoms. If you are diagnosed, the provider can prescribe antiviral medication. If antivirals are taken early on, these drugs may shorten the course of the flu. Antivirals can also help prevent flu symptoms worsening and causing more complications such as pneumonia, bronchitis etc.

Emergency Room:

If you or your children are experiencing the following symptoms with the flu, a trip to the Emergency Room may be in order:

-Severe difficulty breathing

-Confusion

-Severe vomiting

-Signs of dehydration
