Sprains & Strains
Though they share a lot of common signs and symptoms, sprains and strains are two completely different injuries. A sprain occurs when a ligament, (the fibrous tissue that connects bones together), is torn. A strain occurs when a muscle or a tendon is torn.
Urgent Care:
While most sprains and strains can be treated at home with rest, ice and elevation, a trip to the urgent care may be in order if you are experiencing numbness on or around the injured area or you are unable to walk without significant pain.
Emergency Room:
Sprains and Strains typically do not require a trip to the Emergency Room.
